JOHANNESBURG & CAPE TOWN – MES has appointed Ms Ilse Maartens in the role of Interim Branch Manager of MES Cape Town with immediate effect. This appointment follows the resignation of Mr Jaco Leeuwner due to health challenges, seven months after being appointed in the role.
MES Board Chairman Rev. Hannes Windell welcomed the appointment. “We are happy to welcome Ilse back as interim branch manager for an appointment that is foreseen to last at least until the end of March 2020. Ms Maartens has in the past contributed significantly to MES with passion and dedication and we look forward to the same during the interim period while we recruit and appoint a permanent replacement for Mr Leeuwner. Our best wishes and prayers accompany Mr Leeuwner and we sincerely wish him better health and all the best for his future,” says Windell.
In her new role as Interim MES Cape Town Branch Manager, she will oversee all operations of the branch as well as the interaction with key stakeholders, a role that is critical in the maintenance and growth of MES’s services.
“Ilse is known for her passion and energy and we look forward to having her on board again,” states Rev. Johan Krige, Acting CEO of MES. “Her experience of business plan implementation, fundraising and financial management stood her in very good stead when she served the MES Cape Town Branch as Branch Manager from 2007 to 2016. We are confident that MES Cape Town will again benefit from her skills and deep NPO experience,” states Krige.
During her previous tenure, she was responsible for the establishment, implementation and monitoring of an effective marketing and public relations initiatives in order to ensure the effective management of internal and external communication processes are in place. “As a Christian NPO, ministry is very important to MES. Ilse played a pivotal role in establishing a sound Biblical spirituality in order to create acceptance for personnel, partners and other role players. Something we feel she will rekindle with ease. God has been faithful to MES Cape Town and we trust that with Ilse’s faith-founded leadership, He will continue to be faithful and gracious to the work we have to do in the Cape Town branch until we are able to appoint the permanent Branch Manager for MES Cape Town,” concludes Krige about Maartens’s appointment.
Since her departure from MES in 2016, Ilse Maartens (previously Els) got married and was actively involved as the CSI manager responsible for strategy at IPIC. In the fourteen years before joining MES in 2007, Ilse held a number of senior skills development and community-directed roles in the SAPS.
