SPREADING DIGNITY AND HOPE IN BELLVILLE!

On Saturday, 24 February, the Voortrekker Road Corridor Improvement District (VRCID) joined hands with MES, the City of Cape Town, and The Haven Night Shelter Bellville for a collaborative initiative aimed at spreading dignity and hope throughout Bellville. The “Give Dignity” awareness drive saw our teams take to the streets, engaging with motorists and sharing the message of giving responsibly to support the vulnerable members of our community.

The impact of this initiative was profound, with several key achievements highlighting the positive outcomes of our collective efforts:

  • Two individuals were successfully moved from the streets to a shelter and are now open to receiving further support and services.
  • Numerous businesses were approached, leading to meaningful interactions with clients who shared their program experiences. These interactions highlighted the value of partnering with or contributing to our organizations, fostering a sense of community support and collaboration.
  • Community members were empowered with valuable information on where to direct homeless individuals for essential services, ensuring that those in need receive the support they require.
  • Offers of support and assistance in obtaining donations, particularly clothing, were received, further illustrating the community’s willingness to come together and make a difference.
  • The success of the “Give Dignity” awareness drive is a testament to the power of collaboration and community support. Together, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of those less fortunate in our community.
